YASSOU!
Our names are James and Chloe Demos, we are Husband and Wife, parents to our darling girl, best friends and the proud business owners of YASSOU Greek Street Food.
Growing up within a Greek family, James has always been proud of his heritage and culture. Food in the Greek culture is everything, it's how you show your love and it brings people together. James from the young age of 14 has been in kitchens professionally, starting from the bottom up doing the dishes and prepping whatever produce was thrown his way. James was a sponge, soaking everything up and loving every minute of it. James knew cooking was his true calling and from that moment on, stayed focused and continued his journey through kitchens. In the year of 2010 James sadly lost his Papou which was heartbreaking for himself and his family. James knew he had to immerse himself into the Greek culture which was when he started cooking in a Greek Taverna. James knew in this moment he was connected to his Papou and heritage in a special way and knew Greek cooking was his true calling, passion and purpose.
Chloe on the other hand was in the Corporate world from the age of 17 working in Real Estate and then spent close to 9 years in the Hospitality world of Hotels. Chloe has always had a passion for leading a Team and customer relations, she has a way of making everyone around her feel special. Chloe's attention to detail is next to none and without her planning and coordination the business would not be where it is today, she is a true queen of the 'to do list'. Chloe also, has always had a love and passion for photography which is used as a creative outlet and shared throughout our social media on a weekly basis.
In 2014 a book called 'Food Truck Feasts' was given to us and this was the exact moment when our dream of having our own food truck started. We were so inspired by the progressive street food culture and knew from that moment on, we would have a food business one day. The dream of having our own food truck was always something we spoke of and dreamt about along our 11 year relationship. We knew it was going to happen because we are not the kind of people to give up.
In 2022, YASSOU Greek Street Food was born. One night, Chloe handed James this particular 'Food Truck Feasts' book and said to James - 'It's time to do it, let's back ourselves and go for it!'. We took pen to paper and started writing what felt like endless 'to do lists' but we actioned each item one by one and had our first cook on the 28th of October 2022. YASSOU Greek Street Food started as a 3x3 marquee and we will always cherish this time because our dream officially begun within the walls of this marquee. We cooked within the marquee around the Sunshine Coast for 6 months and made the decision to design and purchase a Food trailer so we could continue to evolve and grow with the business.
YASSOU Greek Street Food is now a Food Trailer which we are incredibly proud of and we would not be where we are today without the ongoing support and love from our YASSOU customers, venues where we are lucky enough to cook at, our YASSOU Team Members and our incredible suppliers. You can find us cooking all around the Sunshine Coast as we are proud Caloundra locals.
We take so much pride in everything that YASSOU is, not only do we want the food to taste good, we want it to look beautiful as well. We want our customers to feel like friends and family. We want YASSOU to feel like an experience. YASSOU and everything it embodies, is our heart and soul on a plate from us to you.
We want to take a moment to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, for reading this quick story about us and for following us on our YASSOU journey which truly is a dream come true for us.
